Pick: H. Lee ML Result: Pending Stake: 2/10 Odds: 3.95 Bookmaker: Betfair vCash: No
Posted: Aug 30, 2007, 15:51
Canas is struggling to find some form that gave him such important wins in the first part of the season. In moments against RRH he looked rather bad with many unforced errors and we have to remember that it was a complete baseline claycourt battle. Now he will face far more potent hardcourter in Lee and although Lee is also struggling a little bit lately - Canas will have his hands full of work against Korean and the contest can be closer than expected

Pick: R Schuettler ML Result: Pending Stake: 4/10 Odds: 2.37 Bookmaker: Betfair vCash: No
Posted: Aug 27, 2007, 16:20
Experienced guy from Germany against sometimes good, sometimes bad, usually mediocre Capdeville from Chile. Both passed qualification here and the reward for this will be the possible match with Federer in round two. Schuettler's surface is hard and although he has been in miserable form in recent years, he still is a better player than Capdeville.

Pick: C Guccione ML Result: Pending Stake: 4/10 Odds: 1.88 Bookmaker: Gamebookers vCash: No

Still to "young" to make an impact here. Donald is surely experiencing his best season so far, but still he is just a little boy who will face a giant now. Guccione's serve will be a killer for Donald and although from the baseline Young seems like a better player, he won't have much to find the rhytm with aggresive Aussie.

Pick: R Kendrick ML Result: Pending Stake: 3/10 Odds: 4.90 Bookmaker: Betfair vCash: No
Posted: Aug 27, 2007, 16:14
Robert Kendrick is a college-challenger hardcourter with big serve and groundstrokes. He made it close once with Nadal in Wimbledon and now stands in front of the chance to advance to his first ever US Open second round, as Andreev is still somehow overrated on hard. Russian never had success on American hardcourts and Kendrick also won't go down without a fight here.

Pick: J Nieminen ML Result: Pending Stake: 5/10 Odds: 1.60 Bookmaker: 5dimes vCash: No
Posted: Aug 27, 2007, 12:21
I kick myself for not getting the better odds, as yesterday it was over 1.70, but still there is vale in this bet. I am surprised of how good odds we can get against Isner. He is nothing more than mediocre challenger player and got one fluke run in minor tournament. Nieminen is head and shoulders above Isner in every department excluding serve. In 5-setter it will be difficult to maintain the same level of serving and unless it ends in three tiebreaks - NIeminen has a huge chance. Historically he plays very good against big-servers as well.

Pick: J Blake ML Result: 64 36 76 Stake: 5/10 Odds: 1.56 Bookmaker: Betfair vCash: No
Posted: Aug 24, 2007, 13:01
Blake playing at home with as usual fanatic support can win this tournament easily. I saw fragments of his match with Calleri and some balls were really impressive. Mathieu is a player on form, but all-American final is what I expect here.

Pick: M Fish ML Result: 76 64 Stake: 4/10 Odds: 2.81 Bookmaker: Betfair vCash: No

Wow, I wasn't expecting that. Two players that won't break each other's serve unless some catastophy happens. Fish is playing very good tennis and he is finally showing that he grew up on hard courts, while Karlovic is just like we know him - ace after ace. Very tight match is expected with not too many break chances.

Pick: A Peya ML Result: 61 62 Stake: 4/10 Odds: 2.80 Bookmaker: 5dimes vCash: No
Posted: Aug 24, 2007, 12:49
Peya is so much experienced player to be underestimated here. He maybe is not the most attractive player to watch, but he has the game to trouble Columbian, who is a very hit or miss player. Bot had their dose of success on hard courts in the past, with Falla having slight edge of playing more on this surface lately. But Peya could be a tough nut to crack here with his good serve and experience !

Pick: N Davydenko ML Result: 46 46 Stake: 4/10 Odds: 1.40 Bookmaker: Pinnacle vCash: No
Posted: Aug 23, 2007, 13:54
The reason for this bet is obvious: there is not a single part of the game called tennis that Davydenko would be worse in than Simon. I really thought that the odds will be somewhere near 1.20 and only the upcoming US Open is a reason for smaller stake.

Pick: T Robredo ML Result: 36 36 Stake: 6/10 Odds: 1.79 Bookmaker: Pinnacle vCash: No
Posted: Aug 23, 2007, 13:47
It seems that both are back in form with nice wins in previous rounds against tough opposition. And when both are in form - Robredo is just a better player. Maybe Wawrinka will be better when their careers end, as he is probably better allrounder, but right now I rate Robredo as a better one on any surface and easy 3-0 H2H proves it.

Pick: M Fish ML Result: 67 63 60 Stake: 4/10 Odds: 2.37 Bookmaker: Pinnacle vCash: No

OK, I am betting for the third time against Acasuso and for the third time he is the favourite. Against Hrbaty and Rochus, Acasuso could get to the breaks, but it will be tougher against Fish. I know Fish has been weak lately, but historically he is a better player on hard than Jose. Both played on clay once and surprisingly it was a very tough match.
